Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

Relevant thread

I felt so underwhelmed after watching Argo(maybe it's because I've read the book? I just don't think it's that well made), decided to make this thread.

(I've seen so far Argo, Life of Pi, Silver Fishing in Yemen, and ZDT; Argo is in fact the least film I liked among these)

Either the film you least thought deserved to win in a particular year, or the worst or least liked of those 10 films...

The King's speech.

Like the most predictable movie ever. Someone overcoming his disability in a cheesy feel good movie with a British accent to make the Americans drool all over the place

How?

I thought it was incredible. Pretty inaccurate in the details, but a compelling film in spite of that.

The Hurt Locker was shit.

I was really disappointed with Argo as well, I just found it uninspiring and forgettable.

Couldn't have said it better. It's definitely my choice, the rest are all good to great for me.

It was a real life story about a British king. How did you want him to speak? Rastafarian?

Re: Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

My least favourites would be:

Argo: I liked the opening scene at the embassy, that was really well done. But the film got more and more trite and predictable as it went on, and the final scene was truly cringeworthy.
The Artist: I think I'm in the minority with this one, but I felt like this movie coasted on being classified as arthouse because it didn't use spoken dialogue, without really doing anything interesting with this technique, having an interesting plot, or creating likeable characters (except for the dog).

Favourites would be Slumdog Millionaire and Chicago (although this is a year or two early for the poll).

Samantha Stosur

Svetlana Kuznetsova|Duan Ying-Ying|Francesca Schiavone|Zhang Shuai|Sloane Stephens|Ashleigh Barty
Andy Murray|Stanislas Wawrinka|Dominic Thiem|Juan Martin Del Potro|Thanasi Kokkinakis

Re: Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

Haven't seen all of those, but of the ones I have seen, I'd say The Artist is the worst. The performances were fine but to me it just wasn't appealing. If I wanted to watch a silent black and white film, I am sure I could have found one made in the 1920s that was better. The storyline was hackneyed and no, I don't think it's enough to say "Oh it harkens back to earlier days." A movie can be "old fashion" in some aspects and still be engaging. God I hated that movie .

I really think they only reason Crash gets so much hate is because people are bitter that it beat Brokeback Mountain which was brokeback boring.
