^I didn't like Crash because I thought it was contrived and pretentious. By contrast Brokeback Mountain was simple and moving.

Re: Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

Most of these movies are overrated mediocrity or plain crap, Hurt Locker, Crash, the King's Speech, Argo, The Artist. There were much better movies each year but these had the best campaign so they won.

I remember almost fAlling asleep during the King's speech-Artist. Argo was such a cliche movie, that if it didn't have the "based on true events" tagline I'm sure it wouldn't even be in the top10 for best movie

Re: Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

The King's Speech was total Oscar fodder, 2 things the Academy love, upper class Brits and overcoming adversity. All it was missing was a hot actress doing "ugly" and it would have the whole set of Oscar cliches.

haha whenever i read the synopsis of a film and it starts with "6 interconnected stories..." i skip it.

i liked crash, but that style is super annoying. every story is underdeveloped.

You hate Pulp Fiction then?

That film was robbed by Forrest Gump in 1994 incidentally. Forrest Fucking Gump.

They didn't all drool. It seemed like a TV movie to me. For a TV movie, it was a bit simplistic, but it wouldn't have been bad. As a feature film, not very impressive.

I get you.

It's a nice concept when done right (as Pulp Fiction did) but as you say, they don't work so well when the individual sub plots are underwhelming and undeveloped.

Like a rubbish tv series in fact.

A great set of nominees at the 95 Oscars.

Too bad the only crap film in the list won. I forgot Shawshank was up that year. Pulp Fiction vs. Shawshank...hard to choose between those two.

Re: Worst Oscar best Picture in 10 years

Slumdog Millionaire was the worst in a very mediocre list.

Whitney Houston and her receipts:
