To Beg the Question (Correct Usage)

Why does no one use this correctly anymore?
In the past month, I have heard news anchors, tv show hosts, a doctor, a DA and several other people use this phrase incorrectly.

To beg the question is not an invitation to ask a question. It is offering up an unproven statement as evidence for your claim.

E.g "I know god exists because the bible says so and the bible was written by god". This statement begs the question.
Please tell your friends to stop misusing it.

Re: To Beg the Question (Correct Usage)

I agree with the OP on the usage but I don't hear many people using that term these days...

One pet peeve of mine is how often I hear "as well". They may be using it correctly, but I hear or read "as well" SO many times a day and for some reason I'm sick to death of it.

*awaiting smartass replies, i.e. "I am as well"*

Re: To Beg the Question (Correct Usage)

unfortunately, when enough people use something incorrectly, it becomes correct.
i can't stand people saying "prefer over" but that's everywhere too. like the bing ads..."9 out of 10 users prefer bing over google!"
