What does the birds pick from the grounds?

I was always curious about it.

Do they pick some minerals from the ground? What CAN they pick from an asphalt road? If so, how can they sense it if it's so tiny? Or is it just useless habit?

Just so you know: I'm better than you because my fave is better than your fave. Your fave is a bitch and a shrieking BBB. Or was it pusher? Who cares. She's a classless brat anyway. But don't you dare insult my fave, idiot.

To me it looks like random picking, especially with pigeons They just take it in whatever they pick, like some trash bin

I mean..isn't eating insects enough? Salt? Vitamin? What kind of mineral? How do they sense it? Can they determine that minuscule speck is what they need by sight? Or do they just peck all the way in the hope of getting necessary nutrients We need an expert!

Re: What does the birds pick from the grounds?

Birds peck the ground to create vibrations and sounds that force critters like worms and insects out of it so that they can eat them. They pick the asphalt because they can't tell it's not dirt.

Blowing out someone else's candle does not make yours shine brighter.
