Unhappy Ray Harryhausen, 1920-2013

Master of "stop-motion" animation in movies dies aged 92

You've probably seen Harryhausen's work before: it spans from the original 1949 version of Mighty Joe Young to the original 1981 version of Clash of the Titans. Perhaps most memorable might be the sci-fi monsters he animated in the 1950s heyday of B science fiction movies, such as the Ymir in 20 Million Miles to Earth, or even more so the sword-fighting skeletons in Jason and the Argonauts.

RIP Ray Harryhausen.

Possibly the greatest artist of the 20th century. I often think of that incredibly artistic sword fight!

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

I remember dragging my two sons kicking and screaming to a Harryhausen film festival a few years ago, them not wanting to see a bunch of "cheesy old movies."

We had a blast.

His body of work will live on. There is no higher tribute to an artist in any field.
