Trivia question (no lookups, of course).

What was the name of Ike Turner's group preceding Ike and Tina Turner?

(No, it had nothing to do with domestic violence).

Re: Tina Turner Appreciation Thread.

Love Tina so much, so many great songs... Goldeneye is definitely my favourite 007 song

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Kings of Rhythm. But there is no way that youngsters would know that unless they are real early Rock and Roll Rhythm and Blues fans.

The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Shakespeare

Some say that youth is wasted on the young. I disagree. I think that wisdom is wasted on the old. All you can do is give it away and the ones that need it want no part of it. Especially those you are closest to. Raymond Reddington

Paul O'Grady played River Deep Mountain High on his radio show yesterday. It got me from the bottom of my shoes to the top of my head. Amazing vocal and inspirational life story.

Has Ms Turner retired? I hope she's having a well deserved great life.

"Tell me lawyer what to do
Think I'm falling in love with you.
Defend me, from the way I feel"

This song just embodies everything that was so good about 80s pop music

No Ike Turner appreciation thread? Yeah, that would be almost as bad as one about Nigel Farage, and we wouldn't want that on TF...

Best ad ever would be a beer ad with Typical Male playing while Sharapova wanders through Central Park with beer in hand flirting the various boys.

Whitney Houston and her receipts:

Black don't crack.

Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people; before you tell me how much you love your God, show me in how much you love all His children; before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. Oh, c'mon.

While it's true that black women have thicker skin which makes them more wrinkle-resistant, I thought everyone knew that magazine covers like this are heavily airbrushed. TV anchors, by the way, are given smoothing algorithms as well.

Found a non-shopped photo:

Looks good for 73, of course.

You come on and stop hating. There is no doubt that white people look older than black people and the thickness of their skin isn't the main reason. When one doesn't know sometimes its best to just remain silent. As I said before, "black don't crack" no matter the reason. GEEZ!!!!

In addition, that picture looks like a picture of a 90 y/o black woman not a 73 year old one.
