American Airlines unveils new logo and livery. Thoughts?

Not a fan as one comment I saw said it looks like a giant tube of toothpaste. Also this company's issues won't go away thanks to a new paint job and a logo.

I don't know if the flag is even necessary on the tail. Why does the blue part look shiny? I can see the toothpaste analogy, but I really don't have a problem with it overall.

I was reading about it yesterday. The original Vignelli's work was so much better and almost iconic.

Even though this new logo seems to be more modern, font is anything but. I usually agree with Futurebrand's work, but the tail is just horrible. The logo likes like a pair of 3d glasses

Atleast its not a couple of lines of helvetica for a change. One of the most famous branding agency in the world did the logo for my University which compromised of just a text in helvetica following a colon and charged over £100k for it.

I quite like he alternative livery on this blog

http://boardingarea.com/blogs/freque...better-choice/

Yeah I see the 3D glasses in the logo as one person said maybe AA will lead the way with 3D inflight movies

The old American livery was so iconic it's sad to see it go, surely they could have updated it but kept the iconic elements. I mean Aeroflot kept the hammer and sickle despite the fall of communism because it was so iconic to Aeroflot.

I loved the old logo.

But I actually like the new font. The reason the planes look different is because a lot of planes are starting to be made out of composite materials now and they do not have that aluminum shine like the old American planes are known for.

So instead they actually have to paint this silver/grey color on now to retain a somewhat similar look.

I don't exactly like the huge American flag thingy on the tail. I think that's tacky.

Lame. Old aluminum look made the planes stand out (though obviously was bit difficult to maintain with planes being more and more composite).

US airliner industry is completely unhealthy with half the companies being in Chapter 11 continuously. But that is subject of another rant.

"Literally four types of comments: your awesome, I hate you, I jerked off to this, why would anybody jerk off to this. Youtube should just get rid of comments. Blah."

http://www.aa.com/newamerican#
Site about the changes.

No talk however of new cabin crew uniforms, surely those Hillary Clinton suits need to be dumped.
Also will these new 1500 cabin crew mean they won't all be 50+ for a change. Anytime I see the crews of US based airlines in Dublin they always look ancient.

Regarding chapter 11 apparently the tail fin has 11 stripes as one commenter pointed out must be to represented Chapter 11

Unions have destroyed the US airline industry.

Looks like they lifted it from the Postal Service.

changing an iconic logo is never a good idea.

I love the new logo. It's modern and elegant.

Do no harm, but take no shit.
