Olympic Athletes Success Roll-Call

Post a pic of an athlete (or athletes) whose Olympic success you're happy about. Say what they won and why you're impressed or glad.

Mulder: "So you're agreeing with me?"
Scully "No! You're bat-crap crazy."

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings (USA) Beach Volleyball - Gold

To three-peat is always impressive. Plus as May-Treanor is retiring it's a great coda.

Scully "No! You're bat-crap crazy."

Re: Olympic Athletes Success Roll-Call

Nice idea for a thread.

Mine is Katherine Grainger (right) who won the double sculls with Anna Watkins. She won silver medals at the past three Olympics and at 36, this was almost certainly her last chance of claiming a gold medal. Definitely one of the feel-good medals of the British team.

As well as being a superb rower, she has a great sense of humour which comes through in her interviews and both of them are studying for doctorates.

Usain Bolt (Jamaica) 100m - gold, 200m gold.

The greatest sprinter yet. Nice because coming into this Olympics there was a lot of talk about him not having what it takes anymore.

Scully "No! You're bat-crap crazy."

USA Women's Soccer Team - Gold

After losing to Japan in the World Cup on PKs, it was even more that the gold was earned ouright gratifying against Japan.

David Rushida (Kenya) 800m - gold WR

To see a Maasai warrior (honorary) utterly dominate the field was heart-warming . . .and very cool.

Sally Pearson in the 100m Hurdles.

She just a lovely hard working girl and I'm so happy she has able to find such great success at these Olympics. I think she's our first track gold medallist since Cathy Freeman in 2000 as well!

Amazing feat out of bottom (#10 after first 3 dives) to get to bronze medal position in just 2 dives for Women 10m platform diving.
