Re: Olympics:Some medals you think your country shoul have won but failed

Australia -
Swimming in general. Magnussen "missile" couldn't fire But really though, his defeat was kinda pleasing given how big his ego is. // Cate Campbell had a bout of gastro that made her withdraw from 100m free and lose in the semis of the 50 free // Rice/Schippah with their respective injury woes
Triathlon (women's) - Jackson faded, Densham led but was bettered by at the end, and Moffatt
Rowing - Drew Ginn. For all his smack talk of the Brits he couldn't delivered
Athletics - Michael Pitt's long jump
Rowing - Kim Crow. I really wish she won. But alas, two silvers it will be.
Cycling track - Anna Meares. girl deserves some love after her epic comeback from that horror crash, but Pendleton will probably win it all.

It doesn't help that the Aussie media is putting so much pressure on these guys though. Feel really bad for them. Those TV ads aren't helping either. Swisse vitamins (one of the sponsors) "Ain't no stopping me" is really annoying and so far the athletes in that ad have really been subpar.

Re: Olympics:Some medals you think your country shoul have won but failed

Was going to post here last night about how Murphy would come 4th in Laser Radial and now she did.

The minute she "hoped" to do well in the medal race was the minute I knew she'd lose.

It's so strange how Spain has been one of the dominant sports nations over the last few years and yet they've been so awful this Olympics.

For the U.S., Zagunis not medaling in fencing was pretty shocking. Wieber missing out on the all-around probably cost the U.S. a medal in women's gymnastics. Phelps getting 4th in one of his races. Overall though the U.S. team is performing pretty much at expectations.

Sad, especially since she led by such a margin in the earlier races. It must be so hard to come 4th in the Olympics! Hopefully she can win a medal in Rio. She's young and she's from my part of Dublin too!

Very interesting but the populations listed are current populations. I wonder if this list takes into account the population at the time of each games.

Her downwind sailing is not good and she gets fucked in light winds, I heard from someone who competed at Irish nationals that she doesn't do well at Irish nationals if the wind isn't heavy.

She's only 20 so 4 years of improving those two aspects of sailing and she could medal in Rio but its unlikely I reckon.

Re: Olympics:Some medals you think your country shoul have won but failed

Now that I think about it, NZ could've medaled in track cycling - women's team pursuit. We had world champion individual pursuiter Alison Shanks on the team .

Could've snuck in a bronze maybe.

I'm feelin' they jealous, like I'm Monica Seles.
