Re: Looking for a flat-room in Edinburgh available from 1.9 till 31.12!!!
Welcome to the capital (in advance)!
Gumtree is a great website for flats to rent/share across the UK. I'd definitely give it a look at.
Tell your friend to be very clinical when looking at the ads (on any site) for Edinburgh as festival season is typically much more expensive than the rest of the year (which seems to apply to your friend). Festival season is pretty much the entire month of August so if you are still looking around that time, don't be put off by what may seem like very high prices. It's mostly people looking to make a decent profit for the festival. September onward should be fine.
As far as cost goes, your friend is just going to have to pick and choose. Edinburgh is typically pretty pricey but some areas such as Leith and Gorgie are a bit cheaper. There are even cheaper places but I'd personally avoid them. (I.e Wester Hailes, Granton, Sighthill, Niddrie. Not to put your friend off or anything I'm sure every city has its share of non-desirable locations.) Sorry if there are any peeps from Edinburgh offended by the last comment. x.x
