Pilonidal cyst (sinus) removal - surgery

Has anyone here ever had it?
I wonder how much time you needed untill complete recovery?
I would like to hear experiences from someone who went through it.
It's such a lousy desease and it looks shocking and scary after surgery.
They remove pilonidal sinus along with pilonidal sinus tracts and you are left with big hole at the end of the tailbone and between the buttocks.

You must have one hairy ass.

No, I'm sorry to hear that. I had to study about it and it's pretty awful indeed.
I guess they'll just leave the wound open (and clean it every day) till it's fully covered with granulation tissue. That might take quite some time to heal though...

Sorry you have to go through this.

I saw "sinus" and I thought it would have to do with the nose--I know something about those, but not this surgery.

Good luck, best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Yea me too.

A friend of mine (girl) had this surgery & she is having a hard time recovering, she can't sit or sleep in her back yet & she had this surgery like a month & a half ago, her surgery scars are infected so it made it worse, plus it is not healing properly because doctors think she may have diabetes. I know it is worse case scenario but IDK just be prepare for any inconvenience.

OMG I have that thing too I haven't been able to get operated yet because I can't afford to miss all that time at university but I'm going to get it removed in August. Mine's not as big as the ones in google pictures though, and it's not even painful anymore.

I really don't have very hairy ass, only legs are hairy.
You can also get it from falling on your tailbone or from sitting improperly creating constant pressure on that part of your body.
Yes wound is open but it's not being cleaned every day in my case.
I have to soak it 3 times per day in hipermangan water and doctor will examine it in 5 days.

That sounds awful.
I also can't do anything, every position I am in feels unconfortable and now 7 days after surgery I feel most pain it seems.
That's my fear that wound will get infected since it is so big and open and I have to take care of it by myself.
After 5 days in hospital now I am scheduled for surgeon to examine my wound after 5 days at home.
Can't wait for that appoitment bc I am constantly wondering if all is ok and if this is how it's supposed to look and feel.

Mine was also really small but that doesn't matter, you will still have big hole/wound bc they remove it everything, sinus tracts also which are deep under skin. They have to do it or else it could come back.
Sure those pics in google are scary, so big, those people waited too long before operation.
Make sure you have operation when temperatures are not high, my mistake I did it now in summer when body sweats so easily.

I know two people who had large ones removed (before I knew them) and they said it was horrible. Someone had to clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide and they said the smell was terrible. You're lucky yours was small, I guess. Get better soon.

Is this like pressure ulcers? What causes it?

Anyway hope all goes well for you.
