Exclamation Transit of Venus next week

6th of June. Anyone excited for this? It will be the last transit until 2117.

Re: Transit of Venus next week

Just in case anyone's wondering, it's like a solar eclipse except you have Venus instead of the moon. Venus should appear as 1/33 the size of the sun and depending on where you live the full transit should last about 8 hours. In some places, like Europe, you would only be able to see the end of the transit.

2117 seems a long way away but after all it is "only" a century. Some of us could possibly be alive still by then I guess. How amazing would that be?

I'll catch it next time.

For Dante, it follows then, that the only way to get into Hell is to insist upon it. One must deliberately exclude himself from grace by hardening his heart against it. Hell is what the damned have actively and insistently wished for.

The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds is fit for treasons, stratagems and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted. Shakespeare

That would be cool; remind us when it gets closer

"2012 transit will be visible from the Pacific Ocean —including Hawai'i, northwestern North America, northern Asia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, eastern Australia and the Pacific islands."

Me three.

Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people; before you tell me how much you love your God, show me in how much you love all His children; before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. In the end, I'm not as interested in what you have to tell or sell as in how you choose to live and give.

These are the places were it's visible: Visible in its entirety from Hawaii, Alaska, Australia,New Zealand, the Pacific and Eastern Asia, with the beginning of the transit visible from North America and the end visible from Europe.
