Jim Parsons quietly came out of the closet Wednesday.
The New York Times revealed that the “The Big Bang Theory” star is gay and in a long-term relationship.
Parsons, who is set to play the starring role of Elwood P. Dowd in Broadway’s “Harvey” this summer, isn’t directly quoted in the interview and doesn’t divulge any other details about his personal life or the identity of his partner.
In last year’s production of “The Normal Heart” on Broadway, Parsons played a young gay activist.
“‘The Normal Heart’ resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said,” reporter Patrick Healy writes.
The confirmation of Parson’s sexuality may not come as a surprise to some people.
When Parson's won the 2010 Emmy for lead actor in a comedy series, he thanked his rumored partner Todd Spiewak during his acceptance speech.
