Rugby League (and all things Rugby)

hi,

i am new to the sport, but i like it. i know there was a nrl thread in the past, but it died, so whatever. therefore, i am starting a new thread right ahead of the world club chanllenge. who deserves to win it more, leeds or manly?

Re: rubgy league

The NRL competition is head and shoulders above super league, even if I don't like Manly...I'm still expecting them to win.

I'm not crazy about the bunnies. I'll go for canterbury, newcastle, gold coast, penrith, cronulla and canberra. I don't really have a favourite, I just have teams I like and teams I don't

Re: rubgy league

Warriors should be interesting this year, I've never seen them back-up a good year...however their team is very young and very talented...Shaun Johnson is going to be a top class player.

Re: Rugby League

i guess now that i have some basic understanding of the game the next step would be to discover which teams and players to follow. following a sport without having faves is boring.

i saw the wigan vs leeds game on saturday and leeds were totally outplayed, so i guess manly are the favourites in the world club challenge. btw, how prestigious is that title?

Re: Rugby League

Does this have to be a thread exclusively about League or can we talk about rugby as well? It's just because I haven't seen any threads about the latter and it's the only kind of rugby I watch.

Re: Rugby League

well, i don't mind it. i watch both codes, i even watch sevens sometimes, but usually only international matches. i don't know how many people on tennisforum follow rugby and it might make sense to have fans of both codes in one place.

Re: Rugby League

Huge fan of many sports here. And I say that, without a doubt, the NRL is # 1 league in the world.

The world cup challenge? Not very, Manly will be using it as a warm-up and game-time for the NRL season.

Hmm. Melbourne have the 'big three', but their roster looks like it is lacking some depth. However, if Cronk/Slater/Smith are firing it may not even matter.
