Thoughts on Islam - my dissertation

Hello hello,

Basically, I'm a Religious Studies major and I will be writing my dissertation for university this year, and as a bit of a practice run, I've turned to the online world to help me with their opinions on Islam in post-9/11 America.

Because my dissertation needs a specific demographic, I am looking for people who are involved in Islam themselves, as well as Americans with a Christian background to answer a few questions for me in regards to Islam in the modern United States. I don't care if you're Islamophobic or pro-Islam, I'd really like a large range of people.

In answering the questions, please do not hold back your thoughts. It would be great if I had some people who are incredibly anti-Islam to write about, as well as people who are pro-Islam. My dissertation is a pro-inclusivist (as in anyone of any religion can go to Heaven/the afterlife) discussion, but I won't insult your beliefs, nor argue against you (if you're Islamophobic) during the questioning process.. I will be developing a cohesive argument against Islamophobia and in favour of Islam developing in present day America.

It would really be great if you guys helped me out. Provided my dissertation is good enough I will be publishing officially, so to be a part of history, help me out

Please just post whether you're interested below. I will PM you within the next couple of weeks once I've finalized my questions with my tutor .

Thank you!

Good Luck with your dissertation.
I'm not in your specific demographic though.

You will find plenty of that here.

I'm not included in the demographics you're looking for, but I will say this sounds incredibly interesting. Good luck and I'd love to read this once it's published.

I mean this doesn't sound like Religious Studies to me. When I hear that I think of the history, the tenets, or modern responses and parallels between religions.

This sounds more like societal definitions and responses to religion - A sociology study.

Religious studies is multidisciplinary, and it overlaps with both social science fields and the humanities.

This year the modules I'm doing involve anthropological and sociological studies within religion I do cross-cultural ethics, a sociological matter, as well as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism in a historical and modern context, combining political matters with sociological, anthropological and religious matters. Next year I'm specialising in historical and Vedic/Qur'anic scripture, so the history comes in with that.

I'm curious to know what kind of job description would you hope to land when you graduate?

R.S degrees are not vocational, so I can endeavor into any sort of career (excluding medicine etc.) I want. I plan on going into civil and commercial aviation after I've finished university.
