Re: Joe Paterno Dead At 85

So terribly sad. This is a guy I admired for over 45 years since we are both from Brooklyn and I am a football fanatic. With this terribly disturbing disclosures that we have heard in the past few months, I was hoping he would get one last chance to clear the air in order to minimize the negativity and, hopefully, brighten his lasting legacy. Now, it appears there is no hope for this. For all his great accomplishments as coach, fund raiser, promoter of womens amateur sports at the collegiate level, trainer of football coaches, and community activist - all of these great things will now be disregarded and people will emphasize the negativity. I am at a loss as to how to alter this.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

^Well said.

This whole mess really just killed him. He died of a broken heart as far as Im concerned. Yet another day of mourning within the Penn State community.

RIP Joe Pa

I hope people will remember him for what he did before the Sandusky scandal. He changed not only the football program, he had an impact on the entire school in almost every aspect possible. Joe Pa is the face of Penn State, and always will be in my eyes.

Yes, enabling child molestation aside, Paterno was a cool dude.
