Computer experts needed (network question)

Ok right well my computer has all but died, but there are both files and e-mails on it, that I really need to keep and it's basically a race against time, lol. I have tried putting the files onto a cd, but that doesn't seem to be working for some reason, the files are too large to put onto disk.
So the only other thing I can think of is using a network. Today I had to go out and buy a new computer, so I know have two computers, although the other one won't last long at all. So is there any way using a network, I could transfer my files from one computer to the other? If so, how would I go about all that? As I have no idea how it all works. Recommendations would be very useful

Also if anyone has any suggestions at all, I would appreciate it so much, because I really need to transfer these files.

E-mail them as attachments to your e-mail account and download them onto your new computer

Martin, you need a network hub and both your computers have to have network cards in them (if not then you have to buy them). Then all you have to do is follow the instructions that come with the network hub and you're all set to go. You can also buy a network starter kit which comes with a network hub and either 1 or 2 network cards.

Your other option is to take the hard drive out of the old computer and attach it to the new computer. If you're not computer savvy then you should get someone to help you do this or you can bring it into a computer shop and they can do it for you for a fee.

I would personally go with the second option (attach old hard drive to new computer).

2 networkcards and a cross-UTP cable is all you need.

You don't need a hub at all..
