Best Teen Angst Songs

What are your favourites of this diverse genre?

When I think of teen angst I think primarily of songs by The Smiths, Avril Lavinge and in what might seem an odd choice The Corrs. On my artist choices : The Smiths - the most depressing band in the world as they have been called - produced some of the best sexual teen angst in music. My songs from Avril come from her first 2 albums when she actually was still a teenager and writing songs about that. I haven't bought any of he albums since then but of course she's grown up and doesn't do the teen angst thing anymore I don't think. Also with The Corrs I think of Andrea as the main writer of lyrics and on their first 2 albums she seemed to be writing alot about rejection and broken relationships and 'unrequited love'. I don't know if they really qualify for teen angst but Freak it I'm sticking with them:

My favourites from them include:

The Smiths - The boy with the thorn in his side
The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm miserable now
The Smiths - What She Said
The Smiths - That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
The Smiths - How Soon Is Now
Avril Lavinge - Losing Grip
Avril Lavinge - Nobody's Home
Avirl Lavinge - My Happy Ending
The Corrs - Forgiven Not Forgotten
The Corrs - Love To Love You
The Corrs - What Can I Do
The Corrs - Don't Say You Love Me

Top 10: Ashleigh Barty, Caroline Garcia, Jamie Hampton, Jelena Jankovic, Agnieszka Radwanska, Lucie Safarova, Maria Sharapova, Karolina Sprem, Sam Stosur, Jarmila Wolfe.

All time favourite: Anna Chakvetadze

The Smiths in the same list as Avril Lavigne and The Corrs! If Morrissey weren't such a douchebag I'd feel sorry for him

Morrissey likes Tatu. I'm sure he can appreciate the talents of misses Lavinge and Corr(s).

Morrissey is ridiculously stuck up, I'm sure he thinks he's well above anything ever done by Lavigne or the Corrs. He's not right, but I'm sure he'd think that, which is what makes this funny.

Re: Best Teen Angst Songs

One of the more accurate quotes I've seen on Morrissey:

Quote:
Elvis Costello on Morrissey
“Morrissey writes wonderful song titles, but sadly he often forgets to write the song.”
I like a lot of Morrissey's/The Smiths music, but a lot of it does tend to ramble and not have much structure

Back on topic - you can't forget Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"...that's what I think of first and foremost.

Do Teen angst songs have to be Metal, Hard Rock or Punk?
I'm thinking it could also be hiphop and even pop. Not sure?

In theory it could be any genre, it's all about the lyrics.

I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift wrote the gospel of teen angst

Also, I now have the urge to listen to The Corrs again. It's been a while...

Re: Best Teen Angst Songs

The Veronicas sounded like they had listened to Avril Lavinge's first album alot with their own teen angst songs on their debut album.

Also I forgot to mention My Chemical Romance and the whole "emo" thing, probably because I don't listen to that much.

^ The OP put The Corrs songs in his post. I don't think they're all that fussed .

The Corrs have always been terribly under appreciated. Nice people who write their own songs and can sing.

No no, I'm not dissing the Corrs, I'm just saying they're not teen angst .

That's true though. I can never see the group that sang "What can I do" as teen angst
