Question Madonna movie straight to video

Madonna movie straight to video

12nov02

MADONNA'S disastrous new film Swept Away will not be released in the UK because it has been such a box office flop in the US.

The film, directed by her husband Guy Ritchie, was savaged by the critics and has taken just $1.07 million since its release last month.
It was due to hit British cinema screens in March, but will now go straight to video

Yeah I heard about that.

I think it's a bit stupid not to have it in the cinema over here just because it flopped in the US.

Guy Ritchie is really popular over here and I have no doubt that it would've done better here than it did in America but I guess now we'll never know!

Do you know how bad it must have been to have flopped in the U.S.? People here watch someone take a shit on screen and it becomes a hit.

Since she's never really had a runaway movie hit (forego Dick Tracy), I'm not surprised.

She was great in Desperately Seeking Susan because she was essentially playing herself. Dick Tracy did not require much acting and she was part of a larger ensemble piece where she was but one facet of the film. She is one of the best entertainers ever, but she just cannot act. I guess she either won't get a coach, or it does not work. Poor Madonna, she never learns!

I think, save for Body Of Evidence, there is not 1 Madge movie I don't like. Most are just good stories, not much acting required... But she did act her arse off in Evita, I think. All that emotion and having to express all your thoughts in song.

Actually, she wasn't bad in Evita either now that you mention it. If she doesn't care whether her films are any good or not, then she has nothing to worry about. If she wants to boast more big screen success, she needs to do musicals with light-acting only required.

This thread is making me all nostalgic for a "Who's That Girl" and "Shanghai Surprise" double feature.

I actually liked body of evidence. i go see movies for what i know they'll be. I know a Madonna movie is NOT gonna be a Meryl Streep out of body experience. It was fun seeing her get slapped around and her boobs falling out all the time....it was her SEX book come to life.

Talk about someone "who never learns" its Jennifer Lopez, the chick is getting married AGAIN??? Is she the new Liz Taylor of the century? just screw the guy J Lo, dont marry them all. good lord

Swept Away really SUCKED! The acting was horrible. Madonna was not able to deliver. I really don't think she will ever be considered a "serious" leading lady. She should stick to the soft porn music videos!

Hey, she will always be a Golden Globe Winner for Best Actress! 'A League of our own' sounds good about now.

A League of their Own was actually good also. You know what, Madonna has made some decent flicks, but I think her range is narrow and she needs good support. I got a copy of the DVD in the mail and I watched last week. I watched it because it was either that or clean out the litter box.
