Thumbs up New skirt rule for female badminton players

New skirt rule for female badminton players

(Reuters) - Skirt selection could be as crucial as shot selection for the female shuttlers when they hit the court for this month's India Super Series in New Delhi.

Taking a cue from tennis, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has introduced a new dress code, which comes into effect from May 1 and requires all female players to wear skirts or dresses in Grand Prix tournaments and above "to ensure attractive presentation of badminton".

"Taking a cue from tennis" - I don't think tennis has such a rule?

And the BWF has always seemed desperate. I remember a few years ago, an official was whining about how tennis is more popular although the shuttle speed in badminton is faster

Are the Badminton birds hot? If so this is an excellent rule.

If not, this is eww.

People watch badminton outside of China?? I guess this might increase popularity, but if you ask me - it should be mandatory for all of them to be female pornstars before I'd ever consider watching.

If they also make bikini or thong underwear mandatory, I'll become a viewer.

As a fan of Caroline Wozniacki you appear to have some horrible double standards.

Re: New skirt rule for female badminton players

Is there such a rule in tennis?

Sometimes female tennis players wear shorts. I remember Myskina doing that for instance...

Quote:
19. In the period from January to April 2006 Dr. Skalny sent very detailed messages to Ms Sharapova [...]: “Mildronate 1-2 X 10, repeat in 2 wks (before training or competition)”; “1 hr before competition, 2 pills of Mildronate”; “During games of special importance, you can increase your Mildronate dose to 3-4 pills (1 hr before the match). However, it is necessary to consult me on all these matters (please call)”; “30 minutes prior to a training session: Mildronat – 1 Capsule. 30-45 minutes prior to a tournament Mildronat 2 capsules”.

Dementieva used to rock the short shorts too.

Akgul rocks the not-so-short shorts

Obviously people who watch badminton are doing so in search of ass, so this is only logical. Excellent problem solving by the sport's governing body on this one. High fives all around!

While the BWF hopes the move will bring more fans to the sport and rope in more sponsors, everybody is not convinced it's the right way forward.
So basically, they are trying to "sex up" the sport to make it more popular. Someone needs to tell them that Tennis doesn't require skirts. Let the women wear what they're comfortable with. Why is it just the women that have to "ensure attractive presentation"? Will the men have similar requirements, like short-shorts??

Both sports should take a cue from AVP volleyball and have the women in two-pieces and the men shirtless. At least during the US Open series...
