I missed my flight

So I missed my flight. Kept thinking I was on the 12.50 pm flight, when the flight was at 6.15 am. Bascially I only realized it 5 hours my flight has left. I am in utter disbelief at my jaw-dropping fuckery.

Wondering who else out there has made such a crazy mistake with flights before. It may make me feel better.

P.S. I'm at the airport typing this, hoping intensely I'll get the afternoon standby flight, but there are 4 pple on standby in front of me.

He looked deep into his eyes and said, "You're perfect."

"No, I'm not. But with you, I don't even care."

Re: I missed my flight

Yeah, this is the most amazing fuckery ever.

The closest I came to this was when I was surfing the internet at JFK and completely zoned out. Then I was wondering why they hadn't called for boarding. It turns out that they had, everyone had boarded, and they called my name over the PA a few times. But technically I had 25 mins to spare before the official flight time, so it wasn't anything close to a disaster. If anything, it was nice walking down empty aisles to my seat, like a guest of honour or something.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

My mother in law was staying at our place last summer and she missed her flight back home to Germany because she was too busy buying tea cups in Whittards of Chelsea

Re: I missed my flight

i once missed a flight coz i was partying the night through and couldn't wake up afterwards to my defence the people who were supposed to me to the airport didn't show up in time either because their car was sucking (they did call me on the phone like at least 100 times, however). i was lucky to get another flight to a nearby city on the same afternoon though.

Re: I missed my flight

I was close to missing my flight a few times especially because of how many stops I usually have to do, but not really because I effed up.

One time I came literally at the last moment. They were just about to close the gate, plane was about to start rolling and all that drama. It was a nice sprint. Reason: "registration" office was closed, and they opened up late. (for those who don't know, this is what some have to go through if they come from "special" countries).

The other time I lost half my stuff during the sprint. Reason: trying to transit with the Heathrow airport being a crowded mess that day.

I lost my baggage a few times too, if that helps.

Re: I missed my flight

Oh yeah, I did miss a flight once because of a delay in my first flight and had to stay overnight in Detroit - but it wasn't my fault. I think that's just part of the air transit business. Apparently they have a hotel just for Delta peeps who miss their flights, and Delta pays for the stay obviously.

I have missed a few connections, really awful, but you can usually get on stand-by. The good thing about airports is there are bars everywhere. Take advantage of them.

Couldn't get on my first standby. Another standby tonight, number 5 on the list. I think I'm fucked.

Re: I missed my flight

Never missed a flight because I have a genuine fear of it I set 3-4 alarm clocks, re-read my flight details a dozen times and generally don't sleep the night before a flight which makes me wonder why I even set the alarm clocks

Concerned but not consumed.

What is this special country you come from? Don't just make you get a visa? What's the registration business like?

I hate Heathrow. I've never been to England. People always question how it's possible that I've never been to London, but it's true, never. And the few times I've had to do a layover at Heathrow, I've always hated it. I don't know if this is a subconscious reason why I've never actually bothered to go to England. Doubt it, but it's a nice, douche excuse to give people.

Good luck! Where is it you're headed?

I have to say that the more I travel (I've been on 8 flights in 2011 alone), the worse I've become when it comes to managing my time. I have crazy parents who used to insist we are at the airport 3 hours prior departure so the first couple of times I traveled by myself, I used to be such a spaz about everything that goes into preparing to fly. I would double (triple) check everything and be at the airport three hours ahead of my flight time (I think this might have also had something to do with how anxious I felt about traveling alone). And as time progresses, I lazier I get about preparing. When I flew to Stockholm in January, I was seriously still trying to figure out my packing situation as my ride to the airport waited outside. And now, I'm pissed if I'm at the airport over an hour and 45 minutes before my flight. Thankfully, I haven't missed a flight yet, because I'm worried that my newly acquired stupidity when it comes to flying will catch up with me.

What's everyone's packing style? I don't pack until the day of my flight (if the flight is a red-eye). I know people who pack a week ahead of time, and I'm always baffled at how they can be prepared so far in advance.

Re: I missed my flight

Rest of my family packs a week ahead. I pack up to about 5 minutes before the cab to the airport arrives to pick me up.
