So I decided to 'collect' e-readers

after collecting books, movie dvds, Starbucks containers..

decided to collect e-readers;

KOBO

KINDLES 3G

NOOK COLOR

some books are bought cheaper, usually kindle is the cheapest but some times kobo or bn store has cheaper e books.

I heard Kobo only can download from US. But it has preloaded 100 classics. and it sells $60 at a local Borders

Kindles 3G, you can type, and can download from any country.

Nook Color, color, can navigate websites, also heard it has great potential as a tablet for half a price of I-pad.

for now, will just buy Kobo since it's the cheapest and will wait better versions for kindles and nook color in the future

so dunno when I'll finally buy all 3

I saw a review of the Kindle which compared these three I believe and the biggest thing by far that stands out is the fact that Kindle has a better screen face. It's also lighter and thinner. I'm happy with my Kindle purchase.

I don't understand, why would you buy all these when you can just buy one? My suggestion would be to buy Kindle and use that extra cash to buy some books.

Re: So I decided to 'collect' e-readers

well I'm hooked, that's why

but seriously, while Kobo is 1/3 price of Kindle 3G (I can only buy Kobo
now with my present budget ),
it has one serious shortcoming;

you can't write a note

so, after all I'm really not sure if I'll buy ANY of those right now

Tablet PCs are the future. Save your money for one of those, they do everything eReaders do and much more.

Re: So I decided to 'collect' e-readers

but aren't they... BIG and therefore also heavy?

and LCD? screen? how about the glare? isn't e-ink better for the eyes?

and about Kobo...I'm sure kindle and (maybe) nook will survive,

but will Kobo survive? (is that why they're selling those so

cheaply now? )

Ugh no. LCD screens are terrible for your eyes. The only way tablets will take over for readers will be if they have eInk. And even then there are issues like battery life.

The kindle does one thing well - it reads like a book. For technology dinosaurs who do not want to do anything on tablets or smart phones, this is the only option to a real book.

For me, kindle is the equivalent to the iPod in that it's a library of books that I can carry around in my pocket. I don't need anything fancy, just something that works well, has a great battery life and has a lot of space.

Re: So I decided to 'collect' e-readers

decided 90% for buying $50 Kobo

Why? I'll eventually buy Kindle, but not for now, I expect it to lower the price yet again in the future.

And, I won't really use the e-reader much, only during traveling, and I seldom travel.

Also, not going to buy recent books from it either, mainly free classic e books. (when buying recent books Amazon definitely has price advantage against BN and Borders, etc) also can borrow from libraries,so.

So, why shell out $130+ when you can buy $50 which does basically the same? and you get 100 classics free, preloaded! (especially Gibbon)
