beauty: is it just what eyes see?

have you ever found someone really really hot, but when you got to know her/his own personality totally changed your mind and found this one barely good looking?
for me it happened more than once (even the contrary), so my question is, don't you think that beauty goes far more deeper than what we see?

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

Totally. Someone's personality can totally change how attractive they are to me, and it goes both ways.

Whenever I find someone hot, nothing can really change that. It's more like i think to myself: "This man/woman is so attractive, there just has to be something nice about his/her character"
I know that's stupid but I'm just being honest about my feelings
sounds like something Paris Hilton would say

Yes it is, physical beauty and inner beauty are two different things.

Re: beauty: is it just what eyes see?

I'm more likely to find a person who I didn't think was all that amazing to be more attractive when I get to know them. I think it works this way for most of us, as let's face it, very few of us pair up with models or Elena Dementieva.

As I've mentioned before, for all my rambling about tall, athletic blondes, the overwhelming majority of the women I've ever had serious relationships looked nothing like my ideal. Not only were many of them brunettes, some of the didn't even have BANGS. Kindness, brains and a sense of humor are good, too. And, of course, it's all pretty pointless if they don't find you attractive back.

I guess I'm more likely to classify people who are attractive but unpleasant more as "not as hot as you think you are" than to completely change my mind about whether or not they're attractive, though.

Beauty is both what you love and hate. Hopefully they blend together ultimately.

Re: beauty: is it just what eyes see?

Often I'll see someone in photos and find them attractive, but when I actually meet them I'm instantly turned off. I feel slightly sorry for people who fall for the whole 'aesthetic perfection' prototype because they'll never be satisfied. It's more of a looks and personality compatibility thing for me and while there are certain physical traits that get me going, the guy doesn't need to look like a model to own some of those features.

I was once pitifully obsessed with a very handsome guy, but in the end I realised that he was just plain stupid. Not to say there's anything wrong with being simple, but I would become so bored dating someone like that.

What one sees is strongly influenced by one's belief's, opinions and thought. Many like to think that sight is some pure objective physical occurrence but it isn't. So yes what you see as beauty is as much about you as about what you.

I've been told on numerous occasions that the guys I find extremely attractive are actually just sort of average looking. So, whatever. There's probably something to that.

Hell yes. I remember, I was all fangirling about the hottest guy of my year promo at school, everyone wanted him, but he was dating a girl for more than one year. We barely talked to each other. One day, he asked me out, I was like "but you are dating her, so the answer is obvious I guess". Okay. One week later, he came back to me and told me he broke up with her, and wanted me to go on a date.... Of course I said no, because he looked so stupid and rude with girls. He turned average looking to my eyes.

Another example : 9 years ago, I met someone, we became friends, nothing really ambiguous between us, I didn't find him attractive, just average, and it was the same for him. After two friends of friendship, we fell for each other blablah... it happened with another guy as well.

Actually, I believe when you bump into the guy/girl you used not to find attractive , you still don't think "wow he/she is so beautifuuuuuuuuulllll wooow", but you see him/her differently, and your heart beats harder, you have butterflies in your stomatch.. It's more than attraction, beauty... That's just it.

I know right That's I have always hated, when people judge you because you fell for someone who is not "wow-ish" , that's so annoying. A few years back, I confessed to a close friend that I was inlove with a guy. Unfortunately she hated him although he has done nothing to her, she was like "HE IS FUCKING UGLY YOU CANNOT DATE HIM, he is ugly !" . I tried to tell her he had always been nice to me, so she should care more about it than his looks, and she asked me to choose between her or the guy because she was ashamed I was blinded. Totally ridiculous...

Give back 2006 US Open to Justine
