Kindle?

I'm thinking about buying a Kindle. I have absolutely no knowledge about the technology. Can someone help me? As per http://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Wireles...u-rd_dp_img_T2, there's Kindle Wi-Fi, Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi and Kindle DX. What is the difference? I'm in Australia btw for those who don't know. I know it asks for a country of primary use. What will it mean for me that I'm in Australia?

I don't mind how much I'll have to pay. All I want is the product and the ability to buy and automatically have the eBooks on my Kindle. Which option will do that for me?

I thought I might get with the times. Nothing beats holding a book in my hand but there are so many books I want to read and I just don't have the space to store them all. So I thought I might give this a try.

Also, once you buy an eBook, can you always access it?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a classic 120gb Ipod. What's an app and how do I use it?

You can't, the only iPod you can get the Kindle app for is the iPod touch

Re: Kindle?

i think the kindle wifi only is fine for most people. it basically means that you can download new books only from your computer or from a wifi connection.

i had the kindle and i really liked it but i sold it last year to get the ipad. i love the ipad and but i do miss the kindle because it was easier on the eyes, had text to speech which the kindle app does not, and was much lighter.

If you ask me, the text to speech is only bearable if you like Yank. I'd like all mine in Anthony Hopkins or Michael Sheen, being a welshie!

Thanks. I just bought it. Just the Kindle Wi-Fi only. Like you said I think it's enough. I'll probably just buy on the computer and download it anyway. And like I read any newspapers or other up-to-date stuff. I can't wait. I won't be getting the Ipad. I just want something to store books and can be carried around and something can be read to me if I want to. I think this will be perfect. Can't believe I didn't get it earlier.

We'll see but I don't mind American accents anyway.

Re: Kindle?

I just got it. That was quick. It only took like two days.

Ok, LOVE everything about it. I also got the Leather Apple Green cover. It's preetty.

But OMG I HATE the text to speech. It is SO annoying. I'm reading Anna Karenina and I had to turn it off. It's awful!

Aside from that it's perfect. No more heavy books to carry.

Re: Kindle?

I'm debating if I should get one.

Is Kindle work in Australia? What are pros and cons? Does it have free books like other eBook readers with classic books?

Yes, it works in Australia.

Pros:

- It's light and small. You can read wherever you want without having to carry a heavy book around.

- You can have a library of books in your hands!

- You can change the size of the font and orientation of pages. Things you can't do with a book.

- You can look up the built-in dictionary for words if you're on the road.

Cons:

- The quality of eBooks may not be the best especially the translated ones. Luckily, there are many versions of famous books so you will just to have to shop around. Not sure about contemporary books but they should be ok in this regard.

Well lucky for you, text on kindle is nothing like text on phone or computer screens. It's like this:

It looks exactly like a page from a book.

Yes, I think you should get it. If you do, just get the basic wi-fi one, it has a longer battery life and cheaper.
