What do you think of the new Google Art Project?

In my opinion it's absolutely stunning! You don't have to visit all museums around the world to come close to the famous paintings. You can just zoom to every detail on each painting and go virtually through the different galeries!

Streetview is amazing, but for me as an art fan, it's just fabolous! Thank you Google!

What do you think? Is this the beginning of a new era of virtual culture or does it endanger the traditional art museums?

wow! didn't hear about that before, thanks.
it is indeed astonishing.
hopefully more museums will join it.

but I don't think it will destroy traditional museums. watching a painting live is totally different than doing it by the internet.

It needs more Tate Modern and V&A. But other than that, Google

I guess it's a good idea if not for anything than for preservation and making it available for everyone. Actually, after watching the youtube video, I think it's a great idea!

Nothing beats the real thing though.

the resultion is not high enough to actually study the works of art, but as a concept it's great. and you can always looka the architecture.

That's what I thought but the resolution in the video looked pretty good?

I guess if anything it could serve as a guide to planning your trip to the museums if you're limited in time? That's where I think it could be really useful.

Fucking amazing!!! I can't wait to try it on my computer, but the video has me drooling with excitement.

I think it depends on the painting. Some of them are shown in a fantastic resolution.

The museum tour function isn't high quality, but when you view the artwork itself the resolution is fantastic.

A very cool idea, better than stalkerish Street view. But still nothing beats the real thing, but it's nice to have this to make it more accessible to the people.

No.
