Re: Homeland Security blocked sites

Not surprising. It was bound to happen sooner or later. They will change domains and will be back. Or someone else will create similar sites. Which will be eventually shut down and opened again.

I thought Homeland Security was some anti terror agency?

And not like China's or currently Egypt's censors randomly takin down some internet sites.

I think it's going back and forth (opening and shutting and opening again) between that site and this one: http://atdhenet.tv/

The National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center), based in Virginia
and managed by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is leading the government's
response to intellectual property theft (IP theft), a crime that costs American industry lost
revenue and jobs every year. Operation In Our Sites specifically targets websites and their
operators that distribute counterfeit and pirated items over the Internet, including counterfeit
pharmaceuticals and pirated movies, television shows, music, software, electronics, and other
merchandise as well as products that threaten public health and safety.

Re: Homeland Security blocked sites

Our national safety should be of greater priority to the government than the activities of a group that may possibly violate the copyright laws. This seems like something the FCC, not the ICE, should concern itself with.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Except when it comes to protecting some corporation's profit. (Cynical, yes.) I had heard that they were doing this to torrent sites, but I was surprised today when I went looking for some Fed Cup streams to get that Homeland Security shield. They won't be able to keep all of these places down, but...it does make it harder for some of us to see events happening in other parts of the world that aren't televised where we live. Fortunately, some tournaments are streaming their events free of charge rather than holding back the stream for local profit.

Re: Homeland Security blocked sites

i wanted to start a thread about this too. this is why people should never trust anyone who supports policing the internet. it doesn't matter if they are talking about child pornography or terrorism, censorship is a part of the package and the main reason they are getting so much attention. i mean, how do internet streams of sporting events threaten "homeland security"?

It's not censorship, it IS big business cronyism and over reach. The American people SHOULD be upset about public funds and public agencies using extra-legal methods to do the job of private businesses. The companies in question, have to go through the courts, win and then limited specific public law enforcement agencies help to insure that the law is adhered to.

By going to homeland secruty these companies try to circumvent the law and pass their expenses to the public dole. And thus it gives the impression of censorship. In the end politicians and judges play this game of letting companies use public funds to do a job they should be doing because of campaign donations and cronyism.

Solution: public outcry or public campaign funding.

The flip side is that now a little know site will become big news and even more people will use this sight. I know I just book marked it.

"racism is dead, it died when MLK walked on a bridge and freed the slaves. Now we have a socialist Kenyan president who is not an American and if anyone mentions race they are a reverse racist (while racism is dead, reverse racism is alive and well.) #whattheyteachyouatfox"

It was relocated to a site on an European server but then the DHS/ICE went one step further and arrested the owner/operator of the website in Texas. He's allegedly facing up to 5 years of jail.

This is basically yet another overreach by Obama's goons because the guy didn't host any illegal material on his channelsurfing site, only links and iframes to other sites (which may or may not have copyrighted stuff) essentially the agents are interpreting their crooked law like as posting a link amounts to a breach of copyright (if that was the case then literally hundreds of millions of internet users out there are already commiting this 'crime'.

Atdhenet is still in business probably cuz the owner/operator(s) are good at hiding or are themselves located outside the US
