Catcher In The Rye 2: Would you read it?

Swedish author Fredrik Colting's so called sequel to the critically acclaimed and possibly the most influential piece of American literature for the past 60 years 'Catcher In The Rye' has been banned from publication and any association with JD Salingers original 'Catcher In The Rye'. I was just curious if people would want to read it or do you, like me find it gimmicky and just away of exploiting a quick dime? 'Catcher In The Rye' is one of my favourite pieces of literature ever and it really affected and helped me at a time when I felt lost and confused. I for one wouldn't want to and wont be reading it when it is published in Europe later this year because I feel it would ruin the original for me. Maybe I am too uptight? Your thoughts?

Re: Catcher In The Rye 2: Would you read it?

There is nothing left to be told so a sequel seems kind of useless.

Honestly, I find Catcher in the Rye completely overrated. I did not get it but maybe I just could not relate. Perhaps I should read it again...

It's my favourite book as well.
The sequel idea is completely idiotic, but I'd skim through it out of curiosity.

Even the original is a horrible piece of literature so I have no interest in reading this.

Eww. No. Just like I wouldn't touch Scarlett? (Sequel to Gone with the Wind) with the yard stick. Or sanitized version of Huckleberry Finn?

Some things just need to be left the fuck alone.

I had forgotten that one (with good reason). Why mess with perfection?

Re: Catcher In The Rye 2: Would you read it?

Nobody should make a sequel unless it was Salinger himself.

Catcher in the Rye was the best

Re: Catcher In The Rye 2: Would you read it?

I had to write a literary criticism on it and I loved it!

Seems stupid to have a sequel though
