Again

Enjoyed this book and decided to buy it, for $4.71

Reaching the top of the greasy pole was NOT easy for Winston since the Conservatives fervently supported the appeasers Chamberlain and Halifax.
You can say that only Churchill redeemed that deep flaw..and it's no surprise that they were routed in the General Election during the Potsdam conference

Recently bought Anna Karenina and the first 2 of the GoT series.

Got a 100 pages in Karenina but kinda gave up on it, upto the second GoT book

The girl with the dragon tattoo series will forever be my favourite books.

I haven't finished a single book of Dickens and other famous American authors

Read only about 3? dramas of Shakespeare, too.

Re: What Is The Last Book or Books You Bought?

I keep trying to read Dickens, because I think in theory I should like his books, but I just find them terribly dull and difficult to get into. Does this make me a bad person?

(For the record, I forced myself the whole way through Great Expectations )

You are not a bad person. Dickens can be hard. But I love the way he writes and uses language to tell a story.
Now, I have a great deal of difficulty with William Faulkner, though I know he is a great writer. Oddly, I love Cormac McCarthy who is similar in style.
Shakespeare I can not read, though I love seeing his plays produced and have fallen in love with his work as a result

Well you did read G.E. so, you're better than me

There's a new Penguin Drop Caps series Hard Cover edition (it's without any critical apparatus like notes or introduction though) in the library, I'm tempted

Its clothbound edition does have notes and introductions

Did try to read Barnaby Rudge recently.

It's just...those books are pretty thick, long

I haven't read a single book of Faulkner Neither Hemingway. Or Bellow. Or Scott Fitzerald. Or other earlier American writers such as Hawthorne. (Loved Mark Twain's 'Innocent Abroad' though. Was pretty impressed with Melville's 'Moby Dick' when I read it young. Read some Poe too)
