Re: What Is The Last Book or Books You Bought?

I've ordered thousands of books from Amazon, it arrives like in two days No longer buying so compulsively now, though, because of lack of funds Would like to buy some Diderot and other French authors of the 17th and pre-Revolution era.

Contact by Carl Sagan

What is its nature? He covets. That is his nature. And how do we begin to covet? We begin by coveting what we see every day.
And don't your eyes seek out the things you want?

I can't trust you anymore

Calculus, Degrees in Engineering

So much fun

The belief that man is an irresolute creature pulled this way and that by two forces of equal strength, alternately winning and losing the battle for his soul; the conviction that human life is nothing more than an uncertain struggle between heaven and hell; the faith in two opposed entities, Satan and Christ - all this was bound to engender those internal discords in which the mind, excited by the incessant fighting, stimulated as it were by the constant promises and threats, ends up by giving in and prostitutes itself to whichever of the two combatants has been more obstinate in its pursuit. Life isn't black and white, it's gold.

Re: What Is The Last Book or Books You Bought?

I vowed never to order books from Amazon again but relented

Always wanted a reference book about English novelists, and this is pretty good. Cambridge Companion series are renown AND pricey, but this softcover one was selling at a mere $12 price (original $30!! HC is $90 ) Initially borrowed from the library and after some reading decided to buy it.

480 pages, and the treated novelists are;

Defoe, Richardson, Fielding, Burney, Sterne, Austen, Scott, Thackeray, Dickens, the Brontës, Gaskell, Trollope(son), George Eliot, Hardy, Stevenson, James, Conrad, Lawrence, Joyce,Woolf, Forster, Henry Green, Elizabeth Bowen, Waugh, Greene, Golding

Wrong thread, unless you bought it Why the devil are you reading that trilogy I thought you were quite old for that..

Just ordered this HC from Amazon, since it was only 1 cents, total $4 (hope the book cover is intact, since I like the photo)

I like Max Hastings, think he's pretty conscientious although he writes reviews for WSJ Was reading this book(borrowed from library) but just decided to buy it.
