I dont think people understand the amount of skill required to play. Like I would want to see the people who hate soccer try to do half of the things we can do.

I think people are well aware of how hard it is. I don't really think that changes the outcome of interest level though.

I don´t think that is the reason.

they are huge fans of sports like American Football and Baseball, the most popular sports over there
and those sports are only really famous and that country (well baseball is famous in other countries too but not many)

they don´t get to play againts anyone but them

no American Football worldcup because no one else cares about that sport but them

The whole "it's boring thing" is BS. Soccer is too boring for americans but baseball isn't...

(same thing for Canada by the way)
I tend to agree with the Spanish gentlemen who saw his first baseball game at the Barcelona Olympics, which was a five-hour snoozefest that went to extra innings. When a US journalist asked him what he thought, he said, "Well, there are good soccer games, and there are boring soccer games, but they are all over in 90 minutes."

Insightful bloke, he.

it's not quite true because the american football world cup will be held in my country next year.

but i think they are pushing it only because we suck at the game known as "football" to an average person here. i am strongly against it.

Re: Why are Americans so uninterested in soccer/football?

I remember one night i couldn't get any sleep, so i turned on the tv and some French tv channel were showing the superbowl. First time i ever tried to watch American football. It worked like a charm. True story.

Maybe it's just a cultural thing. When you grow up with something as a child and it's part of your life the way football is too many people, you'll usually love it far more than any new sport that needs to grow on you. So i guess that works the other way around too.

All team sports are terrible and boring. But American football has got to be the worst. At least in most other team sports there is still some skill involved. American football you just have to be big and strong and fast and push people away like a gorilla.

Also, the NFL is by far the wealthiest sports league in the world, the highest attended sports league in the world, and has the richest individual teams, as well as the best facilitates by far. The NFL is doing fine on it's on. Soccer stadiums are garbage compared to the top NFL stadiums.
