Humane way to get rid of ants?

I have a slight problem with ants in my home at the moment. Is there a humane way for me to get rid of them? Part of the reason for that is I don't want to use potentially harmful chemicals in my kitchen and these pests are harmless and just looking for sweet stuff.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated

Find the holes or cracks in your house where the ants are coming from. Then make sure you stop the holes and cracks so they can not enter the house anymore. Or use those ant traps.

Ants aren't human so there's no need to be humane. Personally, I'd remove one self from the situation/area of infestation, because if we're going to be all eco-friendly, they (the ants) seriously were there before you were. Terra nullius... ohhh... no you didn't!

Re: Humane way to get rid of ants?

Best thing to do is kill them as soon as you see them, so more do not come in. They seem to follow each other. I just smash them with my finger. Then wash the area where they were so the other ones don't find their trail. I like to be nice to bugs too (for example I catch them and take them outside), but you cannot deal with ants that way due to small size and potentially huge number and if they start a "colony" inside you are in deeper trouble.

Re: Humane way to get rid of ants?

once i left a bowl of fruit as decorations in a room and forgot about it for a few days. When I discovered what I had done, there were hundreds of ants crawling all over the apples. I quickly grabbed the bowl and ran it to the microwave, thinking I could kill them all and stop them from crawling all over me while I disposed of the bowl. Imagine my surprise when the ants started running at hyperspeed after about 30 seconds on high power! After upping it to 2 minutes they all died and I had a huge mess to clean
