Injuries, injuries, injuries

What's the worst injury you've ever had? And, are you currently suffering from an injury at all?

My worst injury was when I tore my meniscus in my left knee. Had surgery to repair it and I was on crutches for about six weeks, during winter and all. Snow and crutches do not go together. Unfortunately, I'm also suffering a right tibia injury. My doctor told me I've either partially of fully torn the collagen fibers attatched to my tibia, which is now hurting a lot more than it did before I knew about it. I've also strained my muscles attatched to my pelvis. I'm really not having much luck whatsoever with my physical health.

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I twisted my left ankle 2 years ago, since then i still botheres me.
I can only sport with a brace on and it still hurts then

Doctors in the hospital don't seem to know what is wrong with it.
Physiotherapy only helped for a bit, i have stopped with it cause it barely helped.
Everytime when i move my left ankle it starts to make really weird noices

Ahh well, it's a part of my life now. I'm used to it

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

got a messed up knee, some girls kicked the crap out of it during a footy tournament, they did not like that i played a match on a friend's team and scored against them, then when i had to play them with my own team and scored again, they recognized me and decided that it took 3 girls to take me out.. there was no ball in sight and they just kicked my knee, i went down and they kept kicking it.
docs have taken many pics, but do not know how to fix it..

it still locks up a few times a year...

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

Dislocated my knee and when I saw how ugly it looked I set it back myself which was extra pain it was caused by the fact that my knee cup is lying on a bone that isn't dent enough so it just popps out doctor said I can't even think of normal sport activity anymore until I have a surgery

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I broke both my wrists once (at the same time), which really sucked.

My friend's little brother fractured his skull, cracked several ribs, and broke his jaw and his upper and lower arm on both sides in a snowboarding accident. Now that would suck.

Either broken arm falling off my house or the top half of my ear getting almost sliced off after being pushed into a street drain by a kid I was racing across the street.

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I tore my anterior cruciate ligament a few years ago, the injury itself wasn't too bad, but the knee reconstruction and rehab a great way to go from playing tennis to watching it

Concerned but not consumed.

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I fell down some stairs head first on New Year's. Don't ask me how that happens. Apparently it just did. Before this, I hadn't ever so much as had stitches. I guess that my body figured that it was going to get busted, it would do things proper. 14 stitches across the eyebrow, in two layers - whatever the facial muscles in that area are called were torn right open, probably to the bone. My coworker, who was with me when they stitched me up, isn't sure if that was bone or the top of my eyeball she was seeing. 9 months later, the facial muscles are still sore/healing, and are slightly swollen a few times a week. Needless to say, I wear side-bangs now.

I also scratched the cornea in that eye, but that was minor and healed after a short while. The skin on the cheek below the affected area was torn off, but has mostly healed.

The worst part of all of this was something I didn't even pay much attention to at the time of the injury - my knee. Fixing my face was the immediate concern, so beyond the obligatory xray, nobody examined my knee. Based on the symptoms that I still have today, I suspect that I have a very minor tear in the meniscus. Balls.

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I developed tendonitis in both my wrists when I was 11. Back then I was playing tennis 5 times a week 12 months a year. Tendonitis never goes away really, so it comes and goes really.

It's very, very painful, and when it's at it's worse I can barely lift a pencil let alone play tennis.

When it happened when I was 11 I had to stop playing tennis for 18 months. It was horrendous.

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I fell down a steep staircase, and suffered a grade 3 sprain of my ankle. I was a Physio student at the time I did it and had access to the physio department at the hospital. So I rehab'd myself, did my exercises, and was able to return to normal in 4 months. I still have some lingering stability issues but I don't have to use a brace

Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries

I had foot tendonities this summer. It's annoying, but not that bad. Just have to manage it.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything else. I have a sort of a big scar on my leg from colliding with a concrete seat when I was 8. Part of the flesh just dropped out.
