Uh, Lord of the Rings, anyone?

And, of course, the long run fantasy series I have about Lena's bangs...

Re: Favourite Fantasy Series(apart frm Harry Potter)

If I understood well the subject of the thread, my favorite is
Back to the Future

I think Indiana Jones and Rocky are not qualified as series, they are independient movies, but Back to the Future is the same story, like Lord of the Rings.

Eleni Daniilidou - Iveta Benesova - Melanie Klaffner - Gisela Dulko - Daniela Hantuchova - Jelena Dokic - Karolina Sprem -

I'm not really into fantasy, so Lord of the Rings I'll have to say.

Re: Favourite Fantasy Series(apart frm Harry Potter)

I think George R.R. Martin needs to get off his ass and finish the "A Game of Thrones" series. I meant to mention that one.

(He could also stand to introduce a new character, maybe a tall, willowy blonde, who's a fierce, athletic warrior, yet somehow still very feminine, and hails from a vast empire far to the east of the Hand, and wears her long yellow tresses in the cutest bangs ever beheld and travels with her mother...)

I know,right?

Maybe he should present her as a beautiful version of Brienne of Tarth. Any chance her name would be Elena?

Re: Favourite Fantasy Series(apart frm Harry Potter)

The Wheel of Time is possibly the greatest fantasy saga ever to be written. Yes, even greater than LOTR, which is hard to do. But now that Jordan is dead, who knows how the last three books will turn out.

It's far from the greatest imo. It started incredibly well, first four books were fantastic, The Shadow Rising being the peak of the series, but from book five the overall quality has been decreasing. The only real ups in the newer books are imo Egwene's schemes amongst Aes Sedai and maybe Mat's adventures with Tuon. But Rand's, Perrin's and Elayne's story lines are rather slow, boring and predictable, especially Rand's. I think it has a lot to do with Jordan getting older and ill. Who knows, it might be good for the saga if another author completes it.

I personally rate The Witcher Saga much much higher, the dialogs there are so strong it's hard to believe.
