Do you have to like your significant others friends and vice versa?

If you are dating someone do you have to like their friends and do their friends have to like you? Of course, the relationship is between 2 people but I feel friends can and have an influence on the relationship for better or worse. My friend is starting to date someone and says that he loves when he and the girl he is dating are together by themselves to talk and hang out but absolutely cannot stand her friends who in his opinion are a little too wild and inmmature for thier age. He thinks that if things go further he may start getting labelled as boring by the friends.
What do you all think do friends need to like each other?
