Oh,dear!North Korea qualify for 2010 World Cup

RIYADH: North Korea joined neighbours South Korea in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup following a 0-0 draw against hosts Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

After the final match of Group B North Korea finished second top on 12 points behind South Korea, who have 16.

It means that after a long, drawn-out process both Koreas have qualified automatically for the World Cup finals next year in South Africa.

Saudi Arabia finished third in the group, also on 12 points, and will now face the third place finisher in Group A, Bahrain, in a play-off with the winner going on to meet Oceania champions New Zealand.

Bahrain squeezed a crucial 1-0 win at home against Uzbekistan earlier Wednesday to finish third in Group A.

The winner of the final play-off between Bahrain or Saudi Arabia and New Zealand will then qualify for the World Cup. - AFP

They must be the most industrious team in the world, they must train very very very hard facing the poor facilities, less financial support, scarce match experience or even hunger threat. They deserve this totally, hope they can perform well in South Africa next year.

I hope they are drawn in the same group as USA, provided USA qualify.

North Koreans...

If they had not qualified, they'll blame the South for not winning their match against Iran.

But as they have, Kim Jong-Il will then ask them to put his face on all their jerseys and proclaim their oath of loyalty before each game in front of millions so to show how "loved" he is by his people.

Still, I will love to see the "Korea Showdown" in SA... imagine both North and South face each other in the group games.... it's gonna be a bloodbath

Congrats to the North Korea players.
They shouldn't be blamed because their leader is a bit of a sick fuck.
I hope they have a great run in RSA.

Surprisingly, North Korea is actually a powerhouse in women soccer/football. They are ranked 5th in the world

I don't think there can be multiple regional teams in one group except for two European teams cause we have so many.

Will DPRK have fans, can they get exit visas??
