Has Anyone Here Taken AP Statistics in High School?

Or at least Elementary Statistics in College? I have to schedule for my classes next year and I need help deciding whether or not I should take this class. I am not sure what career I want to do... so I would like to keep my options open. Most importantly, if I do well on the AP test I could save myself (and my mom) a lot of money as we will will not have to pay for that course in college. Plus it would look good for college's to see that I took a more challenging math course.

HOWEVER, I kind of suck at math (english and language are my strong points) So I have to ask- is the course that difficult? I am willing to work very hard and plus it is weighted which means that an "A" is more than "A" a "B" counts as an "A" a "C" counts as a "B" and so on and so forth. So...for those who have taken the course, do you think I should take it.

Re: Has Anyone Here Taken AP Statistics in High School?

I'm taking this class next year in college. I say you should definitely take the AP course. As long as you are willing to work hard your efforts will be rewarded, especially if your hard works turns out with an A or a B in the class.

Make sure you take the AP test. If you're already in your college of choice and you send them your score it's not like they will "un-accept" you. Send them your test result and if it's low they won't take it, no big deal, and if it meets their requirements you have one class out of the way.

The college I go to, everyone has to take a math class and most majors require a Statistics class. If you get the credit that's one class already out of the way and could help you graduate early if that's what you're aiming for.

Hope my advice made sense and helped.

I was able to enter as a Freshman with 15 hours of credits already done and it's been a great relief.

Omg thank you. I was not sure anyone would respond . Ok so it is required for most majors... that's what I thought but I was not sure.

Thanks for your advice.

Definitely take it!

I took it and got a 5. It is very doable. The first unit is probability. Yes, I said it, PROBABILITY. How easy is that? I took as many APs as I could in high school so to avoid taking classes in college and I was able to actually graduate a whole year early. Definitely do it. Stress and put the miles in now for the breeze later.

It is very doable and manageable to get at least a 3 (which would get you credit at schools).

I took it this year, haven't got my scores back, but yeah I can definitely second that the test is ridiculously easy. It barely covered any of the harder concepts that were in the curriculum. I put zero effort into that class and probably got a 3 on the AP exam and Bs for my semester grades.

Exactly. I found it be one of the easiest AP exams out there, plus you also get a reference table.

Even if your major or school does not require you to take the course (which most do), it can be applied as an elective so don't worry about that.

&& arithmetic is not very important in the course. You only need to be good at spatial thinking.

A 5? Jeez. I took two AP tests this year, English Language and US History and I would drop dead if the letter says I got that score on either of them .

Re: Has Anyone Here Taken AP Statistics in High School?

I never took Stats but everyone I know who did says the class and the test were a piece of cake. Now, if you're a real man, you'd take AP calc. Calc does much more for a resume than Stats does - but then again, you'd have to have taken pre-calc first.

I took it and got a 4...like In The Zone said, very doable.

Just put in the work and you'll do fine.
