Right now it's [51% No / 47% Yes] with 90% reported.

Good news that it seems like it won't be passing with a Yes, but hopefully No can cling onto its lead.

This can be a HUGE victory in Minnesota, and the gay movement in general. The conservatives have gone all out in Minnesota, and this can be a huge watershed moment, ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on Prop 8.

The gay movement only really started swinging around 5 years back, and I'm breathless by the progress we have made.

Only 92% reported, but they've declared that No wins in Minnesota.

And most unreported votes are from liberal counties, the gap should only grow

I'm just wondering if NO gets over 50% of total votes, does it mean same sex marriage is legalized? Can a lawyer weigh in?
So wordy you'd be voting for the wrong side.

All 4 look to pass!

Re: US Marriage Equality: 9 down + DC, 41 to go: TY Maine, MD, and Wash!

Minnesota voted NO against a constitutional amendment which would have made marriage between 1 man and 1 woman the only legal marriage in MN, however state statute already bans same-sex marriage in MN. With that being said, MN has a democrat as governor and now the state house and senate are controlled by the DFL, so more progress will be made on marriage equality.

Re: US Marriage Equality: 9 down + DC, 41 to go: TY Maine, MD, and Wash!

With California back on the books and several states looking to join (New Jersey - Christie can't keep vetoing), same-sex marriage is now up to 13 states + DC! And, we are equal on the federal level now. Amazing how things have changed so quickly. Look for the Midwest to start enacting (Michigan, Illinois, etc.)

Maine
New Hampshire
Vermont
Rhode Island
Massachusetts
Connecticut
New York
Delaware
Maryland
Minnesota
California
Washington
Iowa

+ Washington, DC.

Congrats to all. If Maine can pass it then it's all over but the shouting. I wonder which southern state will be first. I would have said N.C. but those crazy republicans have now won the state and old dixie is flying high once again. UGH

Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people; before you tell me how much you love your God, show me in how much you love all His children; before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. In the end, I'm not as interested in what you have to tell or sell as in how you choose to live and give.

Virginia, maybe? I don't know if it's really considered the South, though. It's gone blue in the last two elections and it's next to DC, where gay marriage is legal.

Colorado is a possibility. It's gone pretty blue in the last 10 years and it has a Dem controlled House and Senate and a Dem Governor. They just passed Civil Unions in the state though, so marriage equality probably isn't on the agenda for now.

Va. is absolutely south and the only part of Va. near D.C. is Northern Va. otherwise Va/ it's in the land of Dixie.

Wonderful. Don't why this one really touched my heart.
