Talking Do people overreact and get easily offended in internet forums?

I have participated in many internet forums, and because of the absence of visual communication and aural nuance, as well as the ability to take on a different persona simply by writing style and formatting, it seems to me it becomes much easier to misinterpret people's posts and also assume people behave a certain way.

Therefore, especially when people are not in the best of moods, people will assume certain negative things about posters and their posts and will get so easily and personally offended by something that in reality, has little harm.

What do you guys think????????????

yes but people also write here what they would never say in the face of another person

Of course , no one is going to punch you in the nose for having a big tantrum online.

This is the perfect venue for "whinging wimps" to snap at anyone who fails to validate their world view.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. We're all strangers here, so I see no reason why anyone should take posts so personally.

"A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life." -- Muhammad Ali

As much as I'd love to trash 90% of the posters here, I have posted on some non-sports boards with an older demographic, and it's just as petty and immature and ridiculous. I think it's the nature of the Internet or something.
