Solange and the Hadley St. Dreams

Rihanna could sing circles around her, but I love Sandcastle Disco and I Decided.

Re: Solange and the Hadley St. Dreams

I was disappointed. There were only 3 good songs on the album. None of them were nearly as catchy as Sandcastle Disco or I Decided.

Dancing in the Dark is probably the best tune from it IMO.....better than I Decided at least.

Re: Solange and the Hadley St. Dreams

The only thing I listen to from this album is Cosmic Journey, and only the first half of it. The second half is not nice at all, but I really enjoy the first.
She said in an interview that she wanted to be a "Black Bjork" type of artist. (Her own words.)
I applaud the intent, but really, she's nowhere near.
There's definitely sooome creativity inside!

Björk is a tough mountain to climb.

i think it's a mighty cool album though.
"this bird" is very good and "Cosmic Journey" is great the beggining without the big beat is wonderful.
Really nice second solo and even if some songs aren't that catchy it has a really nice vibe overall.

i'm definitely embracing Solange.

to new beginnings.

i'm sorry but i can't believe you think rihanna first can sing and then second could sing circles are solange.

i didn't purchase solange's entire album but i downloaded i decided, sandcastle and dancing in the dark.

everytime i've seen rihanna "sing" live, it's always some bizarre voiceover. her voice is totally weak.

solange can actually hold a tune, live.

agreed.

i like bjork but solange has a way to go before she's there. i consider her to be closer to badu in the quirkiness, etc. but she a bit more immature compared to erykah.

what distinguishes solange from a badu or bjork is that they are completely independent artists. they don't have daddy or whatever helping them. they are not overly concerned with commerciality - whether it be in terms of music or appearance. they are very independent and tough-minded women. they are not prepackaged, rather self-made.

she is a good writer though and far more interesting than her boring sister.

i respect that she admires bjork though.
