Georgia used cluster bombs in South Ossetia: Human Rights Watch
Representatives of Georgia have admitted to the Human Rights Watch (HRW) that Tbilisi had used cluster bombs in South Ossetia, AFP cites HRW representative Bonnie Docherty. Earlier, accusations of the use of the cluster bombs had been used against Russia and were refuted by Russian General Staff.
A cluster bomb consists of a few dozens of smaller subminitions that are dispersed before detonation, to ensure coverage of the widest area possible. Part of the bomblets detonate at the cluster bomb's initial use. The rest of them remain on the surface as landmines. Children are consequently the most common victims of these landmines. Munitions of the sort were used in Iraq, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Lebanon.

Cluster bombs were also used in other parts of Serbia e.g. the cluster bombing of Niš

I really hate them

Interesting. I find no great comfort in anything that justifies a position taken by Vladimir Putin. But, unfortunately, Russia seems to be acting within .... no one did anything but wail when the US invaded Iraq. No one did anything but wail when Russia invaded Georgia.

Perhaps Putin has read the West correctly.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

pretty much.

or maybe they're just indifferent to this stuff. i spent about 7 years being intensely passionate about politics and world affairs, but now i'm just a cynic who has stopped caring.
