"Song Meanings & Reflections" Thread

This is a thread for all who love music! Post the lyrics of your favourite songs, and reflect. Also, read other's lyrics and give your personal interpretation.

I'll start:

Shania Twain - "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)

He knew how to reach me deep inside
And he found a part of me i could not hide
And we'd walk and talk and touch tenderly
Then he'd lay me down and make love to me

We built a love so strong and couldn't break
There was not a road we were afraid to take
And we'd kiss all the way from arkansas to rome
'cause in each other's arms we were home sweet home

But he don't feel the same
Since our lives became
Years of bills, babies and chains

Home ain't where his heart is anymore
He may hang his hat behind our bedroom door
But he don't lay his head down to love me like before
Home ain't where his heart is anymore

If foundations made of stone can turn to dust
Then the hardest hearts of steel can turn to rust
If he could only find that feeling once again
If we could only change the way the story ends

And he may still come home
But i live here alone
The love that built these walls is gone

Home ain't where his heart is anymore
He may hang his hat behind our bedroom door
But he don't lay his head down to love me like before
Home ain't where his heart is anymore

I love, love, love this song. It's sad and passionate. I love how the lyrics compare the strength of love to the strength of the home.

Let them eat cake.

Re: "Song Meanings & Reflections" Thread

like ur thread idea, because i don't listen to songs i listen to the lyrics of the songs, that's what makes them good for me.

matchbox twenty- these hard times

Morning falls like rain
Into the city life
There goes another night
Losing my breath in waves
Knowing that ever crash
Is bleeding the hourglass
And taking the strife
From all our lives

Everyone keeps talking
They promise you everything
They don’t mean anything

We may loose our focus
There’s just too many words
We’re never meant to learn
And we don’t feel so alive

Say goodbye, these days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
Through these hard times

Move your hands in circles
Keeping me hypnotized
The power behind your eyes
Move around your bedroom
Cursing the naked sky
You should be here tonight
But you stay alone and cry

Say goodbye
These days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
(whoa) There’s something missing
(Oh whoa) You’ll never feel it but you
(Oh whoa) You’re gonna feel it when it’s gone
When it’s gone

Say goodbye, these days are gone
And we can’t keep holding on
When all we need is some relief
Through these hard times
(heey) These Hard times
(oh no no) Hard times
Hard times

Say goodbye, these days are gone
Say goodbye, these days are gone
These days are gone
