Am I the only one who is freaking out about picking a major! I'm a Psych & Communications major right now and Psych is not for me but I really dont know what to do. I have no idea what I want to be. I like soo many things. Marketing, communications, psychology*some parts*, music, and criminal justice.
Many college students are in a similiar situation as you, myself included. I read online from one of the university's web pages that when it comes to looking for a job, a company/business/whatever doesn't really care what your major is/was, unless you're going into a specific field like science or medicine. And double majoring doesn't impress them as much as before b/c many ppl are doing it now. So, I wouldn't double major unless I was very
interested in both fields.
And another thing, not to burst your bubble or whatnot, but my friend told me that Psych isn't the best field to major in, b/c she has a friend who majored in Psychology and now can't find a decent job b/c there're lotsa Pscyh majors already, which makes for more competition.
I guess that's why my parents, like many others, want me to become a doctor or a lawyer (but I don't wanna be a doctor and I'm not sure about the lawyer thing yet
So, really in terms of finding a job (don't worry so much about that unless you're a junior/senior undergrad), whatever major you choose, particularly in liberal arts, isn't that important. Double majoring isn't necessary unless you really want to do it. But ultimately, the choice is up to you. Hope that helps.
