McDonald's Worker Recieves Charge For Making Salty Burgers

Just a mistake, says staffer fired over cop's salty burger

By STEVE VISSER
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 09/08/07

Police Officer Wendell Adams learned Friday there can still be a cost to a free lunch.

For McDonald's staffer Kendra Bull, Adams' lunch also came with a price.

Adams is the Union City patrolman who got sick on an overly salty burger at a McDonald's on Jonesboro Road in his city. Bull, who said she accidently doused the officer's burger with salt, was charged with a reckless conduct, a misdemeanor, for her role in the food preparation.

The 20-year-old noted that while Adams got his meal free — which she says is customary for police at her restaurant — and is back at work, she's out of a paycheck and spent a night in jail before getting out on a $1,000 bond.

All because of what she calls a big accident.
"It is a big problem for me financially," she said. "I'm on leave — no pay. They didn't say how long."

Investigators don't know if Bull was targeting the officer with the Big N'Tasty blue-light special, only that she admitted putting the salt on the burger, said Officer George Louth, spokesman for the department.

"It is questionable whether she even knew it was for a police officer," Louth said. "She knew it was not up to their standards and served it anyway."
Bull, the mother of a 1-year-old child, had made several inconsistent statements, Louth said.

The burger made Adams so ill after a couple of bites that he vomited.
The department wants the GBI Crime Lab to analyze the rest of the hamburger to determine if something more toxic was added, Louth said.
While Bull perhaps didn't know an officer was getting the burger, somebody at the restaurant had to know, so that the cash register wouldn't record a full price on the discounted meal, Louth said.

"In the middle of the night the only people they discount for are their employees or a member of the Police Department," Louth said.
The drama started early Friday when she said she accidently dumped too much salt on a burger she was preparing for herself. A co-worker tried to remove the salt, and Bull said she told a supervisor about the heavy dose of condiment.

The supervisor acknowledged the salt, she said, but still put the patty on the officer's bun, Bull said. The supervisor denied Bull's account when questioned by police.

Asked why someone would try and salvage the burger, Bull said she wasn't sure. "They've been saying we've been wasting too much meat," she said.

whether or not she knew it was for an officer i think this REALLY is an abuse of power for the departments part. dont they have bigger problems in atlanta than SALT. i mean really.

it seems to neglect to say how much salt she put on the thing. There's a difference between a light sprinkling and pouring it on in heaps. Anyhow, taking her in seems like a waste of time.

Re: McDonald's Worker Recieves Charge For Making Salty Burgers

BULLSHIT STORY. But then again I know how it goes I once worked at the Local MCD's here in town & the cops always came by for free food. And let me tell you, overly salting their burgers would be NICE compared to what people on the grill done back where I worked to them. Everything from spit, to whiping their ass with the buns, to putting degreaser in the drinks when they came thru the drive thru. But the dickwads deserved it, I just hate all cops! But I never done anything to any of them, I never worked the grill.

But I think it's awful for something as small as accidentally salting a burger someone gets to spend a nite in jail & be arrested with all these charges. The son of a bitch didn't have to pay for his food, and how many people have the damn sense that when something is too salty after the first bite, not to keep eating it. Shit it's fast food, mistakes are made; he could have simply taken one bite, spit it out & wrapped up his burger taking it back to them saying "I think someone put a lil too much salt on this, could I get another one without salt". That's what a normal human being would do, but because he's SUPER COP, I guess he thinks he's above normal people, and can press charges. I mean what kind of an idiot keeps eating an over salted burger?!?? Stupid dumbass, now Jiggly this girl needs more donations for her legal problems than that guy that wanted to be a smart ass outside of Circuit City. This is an abuse of power by a dumb ignorant piece of shit cop!

If her McD's is strictly money hungry like the people that own the one I worked at back in high school, they sent screwed up food thru all the time. Over salted, ketchuped, mustard, mayo, everything just because they told us either wipe it off, or let it go thru & maybe no one will notice because if you screw something up that costs us money, which means we might have to lay people off. Because our store was owned by this crazy old tight wad who owns like 3 other McD's & his crazy wife, the guy was forced by McD's to remodel his store, and right after he saw the bill from the contractors he shot himself in the head & died. That's no lie, he really did do that, that's how much money controled him. Because I think our McD's is the only one in the world to regularly run out of fries, hamburgers, and sweet tea.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. He didn't even pay for it and kept eating it after the first bite

If it was so bad that he threw up, I seriously doubt he couldn't taste it from the outset.

According to the article in the Boston Herald, a salt shaker got knocked over and spilled salt on a couple of burgers.

If they really think the burger was messed with, test it and deal with the results, but arrest someone for too much salt? The cop should be ashamed of himself.

Reason is poor propaganda when opposed by the yammering, unceasing lies of shrewd and evil and self-serving men.

Yeah I'm back, sorta had a rougher afternoon but I'm stayin with the new gf tonite so I should be OK.

I sent you a PM telling you all about what happened, or at least as much as I know myself as to what happened that broke up like almost 8 years of being a close relationship. WE had never had a fight, ever & all of a sudden for it to shatter like it has, has left me scratchin my head.

This dumbass cop ate a salty burger, big woo.... Son of a bitch was probably sick from all that meth he pocketed and done when he pulled those teenagers over. I doubt an overly salty burger would make someone ill enough to puke, and yet not make them ill enough to take the burger back or stop eating it; especially when you consider the dumbass didn't even have to pay for it.

I'm BACK & SINGLE. So lock up all the hotties!

If it was so bad why did he have more then one bite? he kept eating until he vomitted. Fat Pig. Pay for your food like everyone else. Leave the girl alone, they can't prove she did it on purpose but that report is all over the place so it's hard to know the full story.

Re: McDonald's Worker Recieves Charge For Making Salty Burgers

I agree with pretty much everyone in this thread. Oversalting a burger is NOT a criminal offense.

I'm not usually the one to bring this up, but I do wonder what the race of the two people involved was. What other reason for such a huge overreaction?
