Did anyone see the TV program about the challenges of being an Aristocrat?

It was fascinating. I've never seen a forum like that on french tv. There was a panel of several wealthy and aristocratic families on tv. They spoke about the challenges of being obligated to maintain a code of behaviour and lifestyle without being misunderstood, harassed or bothered. Did anyone see it?

yeah of course i'm joking!

But more seriously, did you feel at all that the set of 'rules' they must follow are insipid in comparison to those that normal people face, taking into account of course that they have much advantage?

It's not up to me to say if it's right or wrong / fair or unfair.

insipid means - dull and boring. What is dull and boring about it?
We all have coes of behaviour, ethics, etc and some of them are derived from our social class, economic background etc.
I'm thinking it is a tremendous responsibility to be an aristocrat - and it has a lot of hazards because of the increased HATRED that people have towards them. Sure they may have the advantage of wealth, but it may also limit their freedoms in so many ways.

i suppose that's a good point. Do you mean aristocrat as in, someone with a title e.g Duchess of Wherever..or do you mean a very rich person or a socialite?

Yes, and I'm glad that you know the difference.

Yes, they were speaking of people with titles, like without royal implications really. Just someone with a name, for example:
Jean luc de ...... People may not know who they are or why they have "titles", but that's what they have... In many respects it can really be a handicap.
