Lakers are toast

They had a lead, 4th quarter, and then, once again, they tank........

I would not surprised if they don't even make the playoffs with
three games to go.

Jerry Buss- stop being so cheap, get a top player to go w/Kobe.
He's only got 3 good years left, if that. You're wasting him.

Shaq has a ring since he whined and left.

What do The Lakers have?

Squat.

They probably won't do anything. Keep waiting for Andrew Bynum to
grow up. He looks like a bust so far.

Re: Lakers are toast

well a new Top player next to Kobe? I'm sorry Kobe is taking nearly 50% of the shots of the team.
For me, Kobe Bryant is the problem of the Team. Ok he is a scoring machine, but that doesn't help the Lakers, because of that they win here a game and there a game. He is too selffish. Look at LeBron (I don't like "King" James at all), he got the perfect rhythm to help his Team.
If they have to play the Suns in the 1st Round they will lose the series, cause the suns are a Team, not a one man show.
Well the Lakers will lose the 1st round, it doesn't care who they have to play.

Phil Jackson never lost more games in a single season like in 2006/07 with the Lakers.

i'm no Kobe fan but laying this all on him is wrong imo. the fakers have some nice pieces but a more balanced attack would have left them completely out of the playoff scene.

Phil, and Bryant too, are just playing the hand the have.

Re: Lakers are toast

Because he doesn't have anyone else to play with.

Lamar Odom, Smush Parker, Luke Walton, that's his team.
Look at that roster. Ugh. They're as bad as they should be,
and a little worse right now.

They stink.

He needs a 2nd star on the team.
He'll always be the #1 guy, the ball hog, yes.
They went after Jason Kidd slightly. Tracy McGrady, slightly.
Ron Artest, not at all. Hey, get a 2nd star in there.

But, right now, and all season, Kobe's had no other
choice. Either he shoots like crazy, or they don't
even come close. Not that the other guys try hard.

They don't. Phil's asleep on the bench, never calling
timeouts.

They need a veteran star, with big bucks, who comes in knowing
he is not #1 anymore. But, they could get a title run in with a 2nd
star. Much like Miami or San Antonio or even Phoenix or Dallas.
It's one star, and the big 2nd guy to assist.

Shaq alone didn't get it done.He needed a Kobe or Dwayne to get it done.
Vice Versa.

Mr. Buss, leave the Playboy Mansion party - Hef and you are too old
anyway, it's gross, leave the teenagers alone - and get a real tall
guy who can shoot, block, and defend! That's how you win a title.
Not with Smush Parker and Cook.

I think Dallas or Phoenix wins it all this year.

Re: Lakers are toast

The Lakers need a big Center, like the Mavs.
The Duo Shaq and Kobe was very good. A guy who is very impressive in the zone and a guy shots from the outside.
Lakers and Mavs don't have this center. And that's the reason why the Mavs won't win the Championship.

I go with a Heat vs. Suns Final.

Re: Lakers are toast

Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix are in a league all their own.

I can't see anyone beating any of those teams in the finals.

Kobe scores 50,Lakers win! Finally.

All that for an early and quick exit from the playoffs.

Buss - get a star 2nd player who can score and actually
defend. Lamar is a post. Bynum is a bust. Smush, Kwame,
Jordan, Luke.......who? These are THE Lakers?

The sad part is they needed most of Kobe's 50 points just to make the playoffs in the first place.
Any team that plays Dallas, SA, and Phoenix in the first round of the playoffs is toast, not just the Lakers.

This would put me in 7th heaven.

btw--I don't feel bad for the Lakers at all. They dumped Shaq, then Phil sold out to come back. They made their bed, now they have to lie in it.
