Why would Daniel Ralcliffe (Harry Potter) be nude?

Pictures of a buff Daniel Radcliffe that are being used to promote his new play are causing controversy among fans of the "Harry Potter" movies.

The young star peels off clothes in the promotional photos for his London West End run in "Equus." He reportedly will also appear naked and have a sex scene in the play.

The pictures have already become popular among young female fans of the 17-year-old -- most famous for his role in the boy wizard franchise.

But parents are up in arms and are bombarding "Harry Potter" fansites with emails.

One reads, "We as parents feel Daniel should not appear nude. Our 9-year-old son looks up to him as a role model. We are very disappointed and will avoid the future movies he makes."

Radcliffe's spokesperson Vanessa Davies tells Britain's the Daily Mail, "Daniel does not want to step away from 'Harry Potter' but he does want to show he is a rounded actor capable of very different roles. He has tremendous support from 'Harry Potter' fans."

The play opens in London on February 27.

I mean yeah, he's popular and sex sells, but he's only 17. Is the Harry Potter image too squeaky clean for him? Discuss.

There was a topic about this earlier, perhaps best to continue discussion in there.
