Re: Children of Men ??????

I loved it, I loved the whole bleakness and the sense of anxiety and tension. I didn't like how there was no explaination as to why no children had been born for over 18 years, though I guess that was used to fuel the concept of mayhem and confusion that was prevalent throughout the film. The ending was a bit of a let down though.

Thought it was a brilliant film, one of the best of the year.

Amazing direction from Alfonso Cuaron. The battle scence weher the baby is eventually born was amazing.

My favourite film of the year, the direction (especially those one-shot scenes) is incredible.

I don't know what kind of vehicles you guys are driving in Britain, but some of the vehicles used in this film are new to me, have never seen many of them Thumbs up to the British film Industry, this is not the first English film that I have seen lately that in my opinion puts that garbage coming out of Ripoffliwood to shame. Just seen it again and am still awed by its perfection.

Never heard of it but that may be because I live in a tiny town that barely gets the blockbusters.

Maybe not. This movie opens in most American Theaters on Christmas day. I attended a special screening. I highly recomend it for Sci-Fi and action fans.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. However, it doesn't follow it's premise through to the end. It sort of abandons it and the result is that this is just a straightforward chase/action movie.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. It has a great cast - Clive Owen, Michael Caine and a memorable Peter Mullan as a crooked cop. The production design is fantastic - there hasn't been much great British sci-fi in recent years but this presents a very interesting view of the future.

The best thing though is the direction and cinematography. There are several sequences in the movie that appear to consist of a single long take. I think some of them were edited together using digital trickery but they are very impressive and worth seeing - particularly a scene involving a roadblock near the beginning and another in the streets of the ghettoised Bexhill.
