Re: Why do people watch Mel Gibson movies?
Uh, why do people watch Scorsese movies with all the violence
and gore in them, and often Italian stereotyping?
David Lynch films which are always weird and creepy?
Almodovar movies which have every sexual combination-
contortion possible in them?
Woody Allen films in light of his stepdaughter/non-stepdaughter
Polanski after the rape conviction thing?
They don't care what anyone does.
I loved Woody Allen films, but haven't bothered with his work
since his Soon-Yi escapade. Just can't get that out of my head
when I see his work nowadays. I doubt I can get the DUI and
Jewish rants out of my head if I see a Mel movie from now on.
Passion of The Christ was too violent for me, but, I understood
why he did it. That's what happened. But, I got that in the first
5 minutes. 2 hours of it was too much. I don't plan on seeing
Apocalypto knowing it is just as violent as The Passion was. No
thanks. I also don't care for the way ABC and other outlets
helped him promote the film, and just skirted the DUI arrest thing
more or less.
However, Gibson has made some great films in The Patriot,
Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, Gallipoli, etc. I'm a fan of
the Lethal Weapon films, even if Danny Glover is a left wing
nut, and Mel is a DUI getting guy with a lot of serious issues
on his plate.
I'll just skip Apocalypto.
