Re: Seizures...anyone else had one?
Just went through a huge two/three year ordeal with seizures, not me, but my husband.
He had a seizure many years ago, but then had another three years ago. Went to the Doctor, got an MRI and they found a brain tumor. They operated and got it but left a little staph infection gift in the process. They removed the plate in his head and removed the staph, leaving the plate out while he was on iv antiobiotics for a month. They put the plate back in but he kept having seizures (more than one kind). He had another operation in which they took part of his brain a year ago and he hasn't had a seizure since *knock on wood*. He is now being allowed to cut down on his seizure meds (he was taking dilantin, carbatrol, and keppra in very high dosages). Sometimes he could feel the seizures coming on but other times he had no idea.
It's frightening and horrifying for the person having the seizure. Most of my husband's he was there the entire time and knew what was going on around him but couldn't communicate. There was a long period in which he couldn't drive. All aspects of his life changed.
We are incredibly lucky that last surgery worked and he is now driving again and seizure free for over a year. But for awhile things were very scary.
Please go see a doctor Kirt, and one that you're comfortable with.
Also feel free to ask me any questions you like. I know not all situations are the same but it sure is nice to have someone to talk to as a support system.
