Can you get a good laptop for 400 - 500?

im sick of my computer - it arses around, it makes stupid noises, its slow, it makes me delete videos and pictures i have even though i dont have very many, it always comes up with those stupid pop-ups that say "the programme is not responding". basically, its doing my head in.

i would like a laptop for around 400 - 500

does any computer expert know if you can get them? i think i want the hard drive to be around 80GB. is 80GB good?

i do school work on my computer and im on it quite a lot. i would like one that has fast connection, makes normal computer noises and doesnt make me delete things all the time. can someone tell me if its possible?

could anyone who's bought one for around that price range comment too?

thanks

if you want a dual core processor, prices start at just over £500 for models with 512MB RAM, 80GB HD, DVD-RW, 12-inch screen...

to get under £500 you'd have to lose the dual core

also consider a second-hand model if you want good specs for around £300-400

bear in mind that Windows Vista is coming out at the end of January

is it really that hard to research these things on the internet without the help of a tennis community?

to be honest though, if you've managed to fuck up your current computer with pop-ups and general unresponsiveness, chances are you will fuck up your new one too...
